Bridesmaids Shoe Decision
Monday, October 25th, 2004
Apparently, there is some indecision about the shoes the Bridesmaids will wear at the wedding. I could see how hard it would be for all the ladies to agree on a single style that would flatter everyone.
So, I decided to try helping out.
What do you think?
The RSVPs Roll In
Tuesday, October 19th, 2004
We’ve sent out our invitations and the responses are rolling in at an amazing rate. It’s truly incredible to think about all of the people who will be coming in from out of town, out of state, or out of the country for our wedding.
Very nice and heartwarming. It’s also the first time since the ratio of legitimite mail to junk mail has been so high.

Bag ‘O Invitations
We’re working hard on the final preparations for the wedding and we’re looking forward to seeing everyone.
38 Days and Counting
Wednesday, October 13th, 2004
I can’t believe we are getting this close. It seems like yesterday I was saying we still have plenty of time. And when a vendor would ask me when the wedding was and I’d say Nov 20th. and they’d say oh you’re ahead of schedule well we have plenty of time. I think now I’m entering the frustrating time. We have been planning this wedding since last October. And I have had a lot of fun with it but at this point I’m so ready for it to be here. I feel like I’ve worked so hard for the past year so we wouldn’t be stressed about the minutia before the wedding and here I am still wondering about decor placement, door wreaths, and silver cake platters.

Technology At Work
Thursday, September 2nd, 2004
Now this is a perfect example of using your lunch break for something productive. This is a mass cd-burner that will burn 7 cds in about a minute and a half.

Huge CD Burner
Yeah, it’s wedding related — I’m selling bootlegged cds to pay for the reception. Also, check out the rocking Mavericks cup.
The Cute Details
Wednesday, June 30th, 2004
The old adage is that you only need two things for a successful wedding — a cute flower girl and a radiant bride. The English would go so far as to demand an open bar (don’t worry, that’ll be covered), but that’s splitting hairs.
Most of you are thoroughly familiar with the radiant bride, but I thought I would share a story about the cute flower girl.

Ladies Night
Tuesday, June 8th, 2004
I have finally done it! Well I better not count my chickens to soon but I think I’m on to something. My wedding party is a great group of very busy ladies who are hard to pin down individually let alone to coordinate all there schedules for one Saturday evening. But it’s looking good. I finally was able to pin down my two out of town ladies for a weekend that worked in June and just went from there. So if all goes as planned June 19th I’ll have them all over to discuss wedding things and bridesmaids dresses. I know everyone is so busy with work, school etc. But it means the world to me to be able to get you all together to meet, hangout and share the details with you.

Anniversary / Birthday
Friday, May 21st, 2004
Jessica is sneaky. I’ve known that for some time, no surprises there. But, this time she snuck up on me. Today is her birthday, and in six months from yesterday, we’ll be married.
She managed to bookend our anniversary and her birthday exactly six months apart. Very sneaky. Previously, I’d joked that we scheduled our wedding in November because there aren’t any holidays in November when Jessica would receive a gift. Now I know the real reason.
In all seriousness, Happy Birthday, Darling.
Buying the Perfect Wedding Dress Pt. II
Tuesday, May 18th, 2004
This past Saturday I went to a Spring 2004 Watters and Watters Trunk Show. I’ve had my eye on a few of these gowns for some time now. They are all very elegant and classic looking. Watters and Watters is not the place to look if you are looking for something gaudy or over embellished.
I tried a few on and before I knew it I was walking out the door with wedding dress in hand plus an amazing tiara (better then the original I wanted) and a veil that mirrors my dress perfectly. Can you believe it! It was that simple. And oh yeah to top it all off I got a great deal.
I think this is the one thing Jason thought we would come incredibly over budget on but we actually came incredibly under budget on. I’m incredibly pleased with myself and now look forward to splurging on a rehearsal dinner dress.
Hit The First Lull
Friday, March 12th, 2004
We’ve stumbled for the first time with wedding stuff. Not really any forward progress happening. Other things have taken over. We’re still well ahead of schedule, but wanting to go ahead and regain the momentum we had earlier.
We’re moving forward, but not with the ferocity we previously displayed. Let’s call it one of those “Still water runs deep” things.

Paper Goods
Wednesday, February 11th, 2004
Jessica and I are actively working on our announcements and invitations. Dave and Jessica have come up with a wonderful theme and it’s my job to cost-optimize it.
Last night, we took a field trip to a stationary store and a store that specializes in unique presentations. I took notes in the form of sketches with dimensions.

Hitting Stride
Tuesday, February 3rd, 2004
Jessica and I are starting to get into the swing of things. It’s rapidly coming together. Our whole goal was to knock out the big things as fast as possible and then deal with the inevitable minutia as it arises.
We’re getting on the big ones fast. Even I’m impressed.

We’re Stressed
Tuesday, January 27th, 2004
It’s official. We’re both a little testy. This whole thing isn’t too much for us, it’s just more than we prefer. We’ve found that it’s a constant battle to keep things together.
We’ve never really fought in our relationship. Jessica and I talk issues through pretty well and usually come to an acceptable agreement on how things should be handled.
These theories are being tested now.
It’s One Day..
Thursday, January 22nd, 2004
At the same time, the one sentence that can be used to justify:
- Spending Less: Because it’s just one day..
- Spending More: Because it’s just one day..

Seperation of Time
Thursday, January 15th, 2004
I’ve heard cautionary tales of couples who spent too much time in ‘engagement bliss’ that they had to rush around and stress out over the details of the wedding. My lady was having none of that.
We’re full steam ahead with preparations, but we’ve had to lay some ground rules.

Centerpieces and Seating Arrangements: Part II
Friday, January 9th, 2004
So the groom might have won the seating arrangement debate. I’m just saving my cards for the good stuff. You know how it is ladies, you got to give the guy something. You have dreamed of this day your whole life. The groom thought about the day once you brought it to his attention that with an engagement there will now be a wedding. A fabulous Wedding. And then the details that you have created as “The Perfect Day” are quickly changed and rearranged in a matter of seconds.

Centerpieces and Seating Arrangements
Monday, January 5th, 2004
Jessica and I are having a hard time seeing eye-to-eye on some wedding-related issues.
This isn’t a plea for help or an invitation for you tell me that this is what married life is all about. This is a chance for you to make a difference. Make yourself be heard. Let’s settle this thing!

Holiday Stress
Friday, December 12th, 2003
We’ve got a few things to do in the next few weeks. The list has overflowed one sheet of paper and is onto the second sheet. The second sheet has overflowed to a third sheet. The sheets are stacking upon themselves so fast that a heavy breeze could topple the entire pile, killing us in our sleep.
When’s Christmas, after all? The list, probably not a final version, is as follows:

Guidelines for Invitees?
Wednesday, December 3rd, 2003
How many is too many? If you invite everyone, you risk not having a relatively intimate ceremony. If you limit the number of guests, you risk seeming like a snob.
What the hell are you supposed to do? Where is the line to be drawn?

Stacking Bricks Onto Jello
Tuesday, December 2nd, 2003
Jessica and I are trying to make arrangements as fast as possible. We just have different ways of doing it.
My engineering background and intuition keeps stressing the importance of research and development time as a prelude to any large decisions like the ones we’re preparing to make.
Jessica, however, has a hard time allowing me to not make any visible progress. We’re working on it, however. We’ve found a few locations that would suit us, now we’re just trying to tack down arrangements.

Leaving Little Rock
Tuesday, November 11th, 2003
This weekend Jessica is flying to Little Rock to help me move back to Dallas. We’ve been living apart for almost exactly a year now. It’s been really hard, but it’s almost over.
I have some regrets about how the situation was handled with leaving my job, but I can’t look back on things that are beyond my control. I start my new job on Monday, but there are lots of things that have to be done first.
